River City Futsal Club is pleased to announce we have re-signed foundation players Jeremy Hansen, Matthew Zhong and Adam Shepherd while retaining 2021 Gold Coast International Goalkeeper, Diego Ocando.
Jeremy Hansen
Starting with the club in our inaugural season, Hansen has been a key player within our first-team squad playing high minutes in both the 2020 SEQ Premier League and 2021 Gold Coast International. Although young, the 21-year-old has a strong futsal background playing under head coach, Daniel Sciacca for the last seven years.
Matt Zhong
Also, a foundation player of the club, Matt Zhong started to find his feet towards the backend of last season. Some notable moments from Zhong’s 2020/21 season was scoring the goal that put us in the lead during our SEQ Premier MW5 win against Lions FC, also scoring the winning goal against Arana United in MW6.
Adam Shepherd
Sciacca has backed another young player to step into the first team. Shepherd started the 2020 Season as captain of the Youth Squad before getting a call up to the first team at the 2021 Gold Coast International. Also, a player with rich futsal experience, Shepherd will be one to watch during the 2021 season.
Diego Ocando
After a strong Gold Coast International in January 2021, Diego Ocando has been re-signed for the 2021 Season. Formerly a football goalkeeper, Ocando has flawlessly transitioned to the futsal court, making several clinical saves during his debut tournament for the club.
The club will be making further announcements in the coming days around the remainder of the 2021 F-League squad.
