RCF to hold training-camp and pre-season fixture in Cairns

Updated: Apr 14

Our Senior Men’s squad is heading north to Cairns this coming May as part of their 2024 pre-season schedule. The trip will double up as a training camp along with community engagement activities during their four-day stay.

From Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th May, the clubs’ Senior Men’s First Team playing group and coaching staff will call Redlynch Central Sports Stadium home, serving as our base for training sessions, a junior clinic, meet-and-greets, and a showcase game on Saturday night, as part of the our new “City goes Country” initiative.

During their stay in Cairns, we will hold open training sessions at the state-of-the-art Redlynch facility, offering Cairns locals a chance to catch a glimpse of the teams pre-season preparations. On Saturday 11th May, we will be hosting a free community clinic for all local players to attend, followed by a meet-and-greet with our players and staff as well as prizes and competitions to be won. The Saturday will culminate with a Men’s Cairns Select team playing host to River City Futsal Club on Saturday Night at Redlynch Central Sports Stadium. The teams will play off for the ‘City vs Cairns Cup’ with entry to the game being free.

On their trip north, club General Manager, Mitch Sciacca commented, “it’s exciting for us to be able to collaborate with the regions of Queensland. We are looking forward to giving our players and the local Cairns players new exposure and new experiences.”

Any Cairns media enquiries should contact the club at admin@rivercityfutsal.com.
