Our F-League men have been dealt their second loss of the season after a disastrous opening six minutes all but handed our opponent the premiership.
Magic Round out at Ripley and it was a winner takes all battle between us and Sunshine Coast Wave. But the game seemed to be over in the opening six minutes as Wave capitalised on some lacklustre defending and got themselves to a 3-0 lead. This lead was added to in the 16th minute which led to a timeout and a reset of our match focus. This seemed to work and in a dominant four minutes we scored three times and went into half time only down 4-3 in what could have been much worse circumstances.
The second half brought us unlimited ball possession and chances were starting to be more clear cut and in the 9th minute of the half, Isiah Quinn scored from distance levelling the scores with momentum in our favour. This momentum was cut short when our pivot was hit with heavy contact and lost possession leading to a Wave goal. We were 5-4 down and with high possession and chances but time running out. We went to powerplay and created a couple of good chances early on. With only a handful of possessions remaining the referee created situations we couldn’t navigate out of and handed Wave a freekick on the edge of the D which doubled Wave’s advantage.
A hard fought match which looked to be a certain loss after six minutes but by half time could have gone either way. Congratulations to Justin and all the players and staff at Sunshine Coast Wave who will undoubtedly take the premiership this season which is well deserved.

Our women’s team have been defeated by a strong Sunshine Coast Wave team out at Ripley on Saturday night. We showed strong resistance and even created some good chances early on but Wave were just too strong and took a 3-0 lead into halftime. This lead was boosted to 5-0 after two well worked goals. We fought back and scored two goals late on but it wasn’t enough in the end.
