Our F-League Men bounced back from last week's defeat to convincingly beat Ipswich Futsal at Ripley on Sunday evening.
We found our feet again after last weeks defeat to Wave and from the first whistle dominated exchanges. We entered matchday 6 with a handful of absences, but it didn’t seem to phase us as high possession, plenty of attacking phases and near chances would summarise the first half. Aparicio returned to the goalkeeper spot as Corbin Fell is on international duty. We scored early, Jaylen Vaughan intercepted the ball and from half way put it into an empty net. After that we found a second goal after a well worked possession saw Matthew Joubert find the back of the net. Just as it seemed we would be in for an afternoon of not too much trouble, Ipswich pulled one back through a goal that somehow trickled into the back of the net. It seemed to be against the run of play as the half was played out with very limited intensity and a lack of desire to try and attack from the opposition.
The second half saw us come out and really take the game with two hands. Jaylen Vaughan got his second of the evening with a well finished attack. Orlando Lopez then scored a goal which saw him pick the ball up on our own 10m spot and dribble beyond 3 defenders before finishing from the flank. Ky Bowman then added to his season tally as we were running riot dictating nearly every possession. A combination of overload in attacking situations and building possession from negative passes got us to a comfortable 7-1 lead which saw Jaylen Vaughan complete the hattrick. Ipswich pulled 2 back late in the game, but our defensive set up seemed to be the difference and just as it looked like 7-3 would be the final score, Ky Bowman found the back of the net one last time. It was a convincing performance missing a handful of key first team players. The perfect response after our set back last week in Nambour.

Our women’s team picked up their first point of the campaign after a 4-4 draw at Ripley on Sunday afternoon. It was a game of two halves, which saw Ipswich leading 3-1 at halftime before we found our attacking stride and managed 2 goals in the final 3 minutes to snag a point. We had a chance right on full-time to get a winner but time elapsed before we found the back of the net.
