Ryan Jones signs with Bloomsbury Futsal in the UK

River City Futsal Club can confirm that Senior Men's player Ryan Jones has signed for English National Futsal Series (Tier 1) club Bloomsbury Futsal for the 2025 Season.

Developed here in Brisbane, Jones joined the River City in July last year ahead of the 2024 F-League Season where he made 14 appearances, scoring 17 goals and picking up both major accolades, the 2024 Season Golden Boot Award and the 2024 QLD Futsal Player of the Year.

Prior to joining the club in 2024, Ryan Jones has debuted for the Futsalroos (Australia's National Futsal Team) in their tour of the Solomon Islands in February 2024.

This will be Ryan's second move of the 2025 calendar year, following a three-month loan stint with Waikato Rapids, the 2025 NZF Futsal SuperLeague Runners-up. Jones played a strong part in the team's road to the play-offs as the leading goal scorer bagging 10 goals in 16 appearances for the Hamilton based club.

Despite only playing for the RCF for just over 12 months, Ryan has had a major impact within the club, not just on the court but off the court as well, working within our club academy to develop the next player to hopefully follow in his footsteps to secure a move to an overseas league.

For the 2025 National Futsal Series in England, Jones will be playing for West-London club Bloomsbury Futsal. Bloomsbury is one of the larger clubs in the United Kingdom with first and development teams within their senior Mens' and Womens' programs, along with an academy of roughly 300 players.

Ryan has signed for their Mens' First Team which will play in the National Futsal Series Tier 1, the top division of Futsal in England. Within the English system, there are 3 divisions, with Bloomsbury playing in the top division - where the winner qualifies for the UEFA Futsal Champions League to compete with Europe's elite.

Within the Bloomsbury squad there is numerous English Internationals who compete regularly for International trophies. In the past Bloombury have won Tier 1 in 2022-23, qualifying for the UEFA Futsal Champions League. In the previous two seasons, Bloomsbury have won the National Cup in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
