SQUAD UPDATE: 2026 F-League Women

It's been a busy off season for the River City Futsal Women's Program with the introduction of a new team of staff leading the program.

Paul Owen joins the club as our Senior Women's Head Coach while Jason Tomins also comes on board as our Female Program Technical Lead. Both new appointments will work together to build a new framework for our female program, starting from U13 Girls all the way through to our Senior F-League Women.

With new staff brings new energy, new ideas and more new faces as Paul and Jason assemble a our 2026 F-League Women's Squad. A squad mixed with youth as well as experience forms our squad heading into an exciting 2026 season.

The club sees familiar faces returning in terms of previous seasons key player, Nikki Dawes returning for another season. Young gun from 2025, Shubreet Sran has also returned to River City and they are joined by Natalie Vukovic who joined our squad last season. We have also retained goalkeepers, Matilda Robson and Freya Crooks. Rounding out our retained players is Ameleah-Paige Miller and Demi Fratus coming from our Youth Women's program.

Paul has then boosted the squad with exciting, youth players who previously played under him at Galaxy FC. 2025 QLD Women’s player of the year, Jess Taylor, headlines the squad from the back of the court. Joining Jess is a further eight players who have played under Paul Owen in previous programs. The eight players are Rosa Maher, Maryah McGee, Nikki Brunton, Montanna Wilkes, Kate Bonertz-Benn, Issy Anderson, Holly Bonertz-Benn and Alysha Kelly.

Paul said it was an exciting new chapter in his coaching career joining River City and feels his team has a balance of fast, forward facing players mixed in with composed players to create a team that has ability to attack and defend.
