We wrapped up our regular season with a focused and controlled win at Mt Warren Park Sports Centre.
Round 14 started the same as Round 13, Roman Cvjeticanin got the match started for us; finding the back of the net in the opening minutes. A driven run down the right flank ended in the corner with a tight angle shot making its way to the far post netting.
The remainder of the opening 15 minutes continued with the same flow, we created several chances, adding two more to our tally. The first, being a well worked possession with Bowman finding Quinn at the back post. The second was Bowman adding to his season tally. Joubert’s pass down the right flank finding an unmarked Bowman who slotted into the bottom corner.
Despite strong defensive efforts, Elitefoot managed to score in the final minutes of the first-half. This gave some confidence to the away side heading into the half time.
The second half started the exact same way as the first half. Within 5 minutes, we added three to make it 6-1. Cvjeticanin instrumental with two key runs to find Bowman and Joubert at the back post both times. Our third of the second half also came through Joubert. Scoring from distance, after dispossessing the Elitefoot goalkeeper.
With 15 minutes left on the clock, Elitefoot brought new life into the game, scoring four quick goals to take the score to 6-5. A tactical timeout called by our coaching staff killed any momentum they were building.
Following the time out, we took back control of the game, adding another five goals; two more for Quinn, including a rocket of a strike, a brace for Brown and a full court goal from Aparicio.
With other results heading our way that day, for the first time in club history we were crowned F-League Queensland Men’s Premiers!
