REVIEW: 2025 F-League Rd3

Our F-League Men have maintained their undefeated start to the 2025 season after a hard fought 3-3 draw with last seasons champions, Galaxy Futsal.

From the opening exchanges the game was played at a high intensity with both teams exchanging chances. Galaxy who boast an impressive roster and a near flawless 2024 campaign held early possessions. Just as we were finding our feet, Galaxy were first to break the deadlock with a well worked ball to the back post.

We responded quickly as Jay Broughton dummied the ball into the attacking third to create a 3v1 and saw us equalise. As the first half was coming to a close, we continued to break down the Galaxy defence and our efforts were rewarded just before half time. Isiah Quinn pressed the Galaxy pivot and managed to dispossess him and spill the ball towards Jaylen Vaughan who finished it calmly into the bottom corner.

The second half saw us continue to put pressure on Galaxy and after repeated saves from the Galaxy goalkeeper, we found the back of the net for the third time. A transition through the right side flank, saw a ball played across the face of goal deflected and turned in by the wrong footed Galaxy defender. From here, momentum continued in our favour and just as a fourth was the likely outcome, against the run of play off an attacking error we conceded.

A few plays later the scores were level. After a chance up our attacking end, in transition our player was impeded without intervention resulting in a 2v1, although Fell got contact on the ball it wasn’t enough to stop the equaliser. Momentum swung both ways and as we regained a strong hold in the game during the dying possessions, the Galaxy goalkeeper made 3 crucial saves which saw the fulltime whistle blown. A strong performance against a team who won 3 of the 4 major trophies last year.
