Our F-League men have extended their unbeaten run to four games after a convincing attacking display away to SB Fury on Sunday afternoon.
It was a match all about statistics and records as Ky Bowman found the back of the net on 7 different occasions, Jay Broughton extended his scoring record to 4 consecutive games, Matt Joubert got a hattrick against his former club and Roman Cvjeticanin debuted and added his name to the scorers list.
Despite the midweek departure of Ryan Jones to Bloomsbury, it didn’t stop us from maintaining our positive start to 2025 as we started the game with a forward step and looked to create plenty of chances.
It wasn’t long before Jay Broughton broke the deadlock through a well worked possession finished across the face of the goal. Shortly after that it was 2-0 after Joubert and Broughton combined with an aerial ball finding the run of Joubert, calmly finished on the volley into a near empty net.
Fury weren’t going down without a fight and pulled one back after a finish at the back post. After this we went back on the attack and by the 16th minute mark, Ky Bowman had added 2 of his own well worked goals at the end of lengthy possessions and Joubert doubled his tally from the penalty spot.
Fury prevented the score from blowing out with a series of last ditch defending and multiple goal line blocks. We entered half time leading 5-2, after conceding a transition goal late in the half.
The second half was a showcase of how to attack with Ky Bowman (2) and Joubert finding the net within the first 6 minutes. All 3 goals were products of well worked team style goals with an influx of possession and positive passing patterns. Fury once again stayed in the contest and got the score back to 8-3.
From then on both teams traded goals. Fury activated a powerplay tactic which caused some instability in the game and exposed our lack of defensive interest while we continued to play forward facing passes. Bowman found the back of the net 3 more times taking his total to 7 and 16 year old debutant, Roman Cvjeticanin was assisted for a back post tap in moments after coming on.
It was another strong attacking performance for us while defensively still with plenty of work to do heading into a tricky month of crucial fixtures.
