REVIEW: 2025 F-League Semi Final

Our F-League men have booked their spot in the Grand Final for the first time after a tense, entertaining semi final win over Galaxy at Eagles Sport Complex on Sunday afternoon which saw us record seven different scorers.

After nearly a decade hiatus, Eagles Sports Complex was back hosting competitive F-League Futsal and for the 4th game in a row we took the court in front of a strong crowd. The early possessions saw both teams take turns at building through quick passing and sharp movements.

It was Galaxy who broke the deadlock in the 4th minute after a scrap inside the D saw a soft shot turned home. It took just 4 minutes for us to reply, Bowman received a quickly taken corner and made no mistake from the top of the D. A minute later, we took the lead after a brilliant tackle by Joubert on halfway in transition, led to him playing a 1-2 with Lopez and finishing on his right foot.

It took just another minute for us to find our 3rd. Two corners in a row led to Isiah Quinn creating space around the 10m mark and firing a shot which took a massive deflection and found its way to the bottom corner. We were in control and building strong possessions but Galaxy hung in there and maintained their position in the match.

Buxton scored a 4th from an entry pass outside 10 metres, which he turned on a blasted the ball into the bottom corner. We entered halftime with a 4-1 lead.

The second half saw much of the same, we were building possessions and breaking the higher press of Galaxy creating overloads in the attacking half. After a handful of missed chances, Isiah Quinn turned home a transition turned scramble and gave us a four goal lead.

Galaxy employed their fly goalkeeper tactic which has been so strong for them in the previous few seasons. It was highly effective today as after defending the powerplay for six minutes we were breached. The following possession off kick off, Galaxy found another and a minute later found the back of the net again.

With the score at 5-4 head coach, Daniel Sciacca called the timeout to break the momentum of Galaxy. A minute after the timeout, Roman Cvjeticanin pressed on a powerplay trigger and from just over halfway steered the ball into the back of the Galaxy net sparking celebration from all RCF players, staff and fans. In the following possessions, Galaxy saw their powerplay goalkeeper sent off for two yellow cards and we used the time to maintain possession and drain clock time.

In the 39th minute with time ticking, Fell held onto a Galaxy shot and punted the ball into the empty net down the far end, solidifying our win and our spot in the Grand Final.
