River City Powerchair FC has wrapped up its debut season, and what a year it's been.
From the first training session to the final whistle, the 2026 campaign delivered more than anyone could have hoped for in a program's opening year. The team finished as QPFA Champions, QPFA Cup winners, and runners-up at the APFA Club Championship on the national stage. A remarkable haul for a group competing together for the first time.
It wasn't without its challenges. Every team faces hurdles over the course of a season, and River City Powerchair FC was no different. But the squad, coaches and support staff worked hard week after week, kept improving, and the results reflect that.
Winning the QPFA Championship across the full league campaign was built on consistency and commitment from everyone involved. The QPFA Cup win was a brilliant way to close out the season, a moment the players and staff thoroughly deserved.
Reaching the runners-up spot at the APFA Club Championship was a standout achievement in its own right. Competing at national level in year one and finishing second is a real statement of what this group is capable of, and something to build on heading into 2027.
Results aside, what stands out most is the people. Our players gave everything throughout the season, and the coaches and support staff worked hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. That collective effort is what makes results like these possible.
A sincere thank you to everyone involved, players, coaches, support staff, family members and supporters. Your contribution to this program's first year has meant a great deal.
We'd also like to thank our sponsors, ASDA Provider Group, First2Care, Sirius Insurance, BlueWing Care Professionals, Fitio Physio and You, Me and the Community, for their support throughout the 2026 season.
We're looking forward to what 2027 has in store.
